Internet Marketing—(10) Should Ask Questions About Their Business Systems

Internet marketing like most areas of life has its own jargon and buzzwords. The term “business systems” is one of these. Commonly cited as a key feature, there is the implication of a benefit. Unfortunately there is no concrete standard. So what is being implied? If you are investigating an opportunity it pays to know what is being said.

Typically, the system will consist of tools, training and support. The best way to find out exactly is to simply ask what the system entails. It could save you from a lot of disappointment later.

(10) Questions you should ask about a business system:

  • Can the methods and strategies of this system be duplicated by anyone?
  • Does the system include necessary tools such as websites and autoresponders?
  • Is the system automated?
  • Is there training and to what extent?
  • Is there support and to what extent?
  • How are you paid?
  • Is there any residual income?
  • What is the cost?
  • What is the product or service specifically?
  • What is the current and anticipated future demand of the product or services?

Internet marketing business systems vary in specifics from company to company. Asking these questions should be a part of your due diligence.

Some of the questions may be obvious. Others are “should ask” questions that you may not think of initially.

Unless you want to reinvent the wheel, you will be miles ahead if you can duplicate proven marketing methods and strategies. The best way is to “model” the system used by top producers and earners.

Other tremendous assets are the essential tools: websites and autoresponders. Regardless of whether you have the technical knowledge to design and set up your own or not, availability of these tools will save time and effort at start up.

An automated business system will allow your business to run with or without you being present. One of the reasons you were attracted to the internet marketing business was very likely freedom of time and work location.

Training may be conducted live or via email, telephone or webinars. It should map out completely your path from start up to marketing online. Another beneficial feature is continuous training and updates.

Support may be in the form of a “back office” and should also include technical support. Contact means may be similar to training.

Payment plans and payout schedules may vary. Without going into details here just make sure you understand and are comfortable with the arrangement.

Residual income is an amount paid to you from your downline. It may be a fixed amount or percentage and can vary widely in design by company. There again, be sure you understand the details.

Costs would include the initial investment and any maintenance fees. For a truer picture try to get an idea of any additional costs you may encounter such as marketing and advertising.

Understand exactly what the product or services are that you will represent and market. Make sure you are comfortable with them and you should be willing to use them if applicable.

Ask about the current and potential future demand of the product or services. You will then have some idea of your earning potential now and then.

There is no wrong or foolish question. Remember it’s your future at stake.

Internet marketing, network marketing and online business as a whole seem huge now. When compared to future predictions though, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

There is no better time than right now to begin. If that is your desire, investigate some possibilities. Use these (10) “should ask” questions as a guide as you compare business systems.

Internet marketing is almost a generic term in its common use. It covers a wide variety of online marketing and business strategies. Each type or strategy will have its own characteristics. This discussion will focused on the fear you may have in becoming the owner of an online marketing business.

Let’s assume you have investigated some opportunities. You are interested, intrigued and yet a little fearful. You probably have some doubts about being a business owner and/or you’re not sure what to look for in an online marketing business.

Everything looks and sounds pretty good and even though the desire is there, one question haunts you. How the heck am I ever going to do this?

This is simply a normal and instinctive reaction to the unknown. It is perfectly normal and wise.

I am going to give you (3) major areas of importance to help you. Check these areas or components and see how the prospective opportunity “stacks up”.

Key components:

  • Modeling.
  • Mentoring.
  • Masterminding.

The most obvious fears will be centered on this fact. You don’t know anything about internet marketing: what is involved, where to begin, how to market. Most people don’t unless they are coming onboard from a similar situation.

You will want the availability of, and accessibility to, these to model:

  • A business system and the necessary tools and training to implement it.
  • The founders, top producers and top earners.

This will help remove the fear associated with not knowing how or what to do. You will save time, and hopefully be more successful sooner, by not “reinventing the wheel”.

Mentoring means in its simplest terms, counseling, guiding or coaching. This component may or may not be present in many situations. Nonetheless, it is critical to your success.

Your mentor(s) may be:

  • Your sponsor.
  • Business coach.
  • Trainers.

Masterminding, in its practical application, is associating with another individual or group that is committed to your success. The collective thought of this group will help you to formulate and implement plans beyond yourself.

Your group should include:

  • Like minded individuals united in purpose.
  • Individuals possessing a variety of differing talents, strengths and experiences.
  • Successful individuals affiliated with your particular business.

The inclusion of any of these components does not guarantee your success in internet marketing. The purpose here is to help alleviate your fear and concern of entering an unknown territory.

Use this information as a guide in your search, as you do your due diligence. You should now be aware of some key areas of importance. Once you find these components are present you should be able to proceed with a greater sense of confidence.
