Membership Sites:
The Ultimate Continuity Model
If you’ve been online for any length of time, you already know what a membership site is.
Basically, they’re online communities where members pay a regular subscription fee (usually monthly) for access to premium content, tools and resources such as:
- Articles and special reports…
- Monthly newsletters…
- Expert interviews…
- Members-Only Forums
- Vendor lists and other resources…
Here are just a few reasons why I love membership sites so much:
-
Compared to ebooks and other digital products, membership sites have a substantially higher perceived value … especially in niche markets!
-
The proliferation of free information in the Internet is actually causing INFORMATION OVERLOAD, leading more and more consumers to search for sources of premium content which means greater demand for membership sites.
-
Membership sites are great for hobbies and special interests. The potential is unlimited, because basically any subject that has an offline magazine can have an online membership site.
-
My own tests have shown that members buy 10x to as much as 20x more than a non-members. So not only are you earning a month income, you’re also selling more of your other products.
-
Membership sites can be setup with little or no cost. It’s true! While it’s possible to spend thousands on high-end membership scripts, I use mostly free tools that work just as well (if not better) than the expensive ones…
And best of all…
-
Membership sites allow for monthly recurring income, which means you get to do the work once and get paid over and over again.
And since most membership sites are made up of compiled content that you could freely access in over 100 different places, it’s very possible that you could put together one of these sites in a weekend!
In fact, if you’ve already written a traditional book, ebook or other type of training program, I can show you how to take the content you’ve already created and turn it into monthly income.
But what if you haven’t written a book?
What if you aren’t an expert?
Here’s What’s Included In the
Continuity Blueprint Training Program…

Continuity Blueprint is a comprehensive training program that’s made up of:
5 Video Training Modules (see descriptions below)
118-Page Workbook/Training Manual
78-Page Continuity Swipe File (If you’re not a copywriter you can just rip-off the copy from my own membership sites…)
Members-Only Training Center where you can get access to me and your fellow participants as well is INSTANT ACCESS to the digital version of the training (so you won’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail!)
Ok, so that’s the nuts and bolts…
Here’s a more detailed breakdown of what’s covered in each module:
Getting Started:
Building Your Continuity Foundation
Before you can even think about building your continuity program/membership site, there are some quick “Getting Started” steps you need to take to “pave the way”. Trust me, if you mess this part up, nothing else will matter.
Here’s what we’ll cover in the “Getting Started” module…
Part 1: The Continuity Litmus Test
- The “20-Second Litmus Test” I use to know (beyond the shadow of a doubt) before you ever get started that your membership site/continuity program will be a success…
- The HARSH REALITY all membership site publishers must face, and how to overcome it…
- Six (6) required traits your continuity offer must have if you want to ensure it’s success. (PLUS 3 optional traits that will give it an extra edge….
- And more…
Part 2: Proven Continuity Business Models
- 8 tested and proven continuity models that you can apply to your own business. (Why reinvent the wheel when you can “borrow” something that’s already proven to work.)
- The secret history of continuity offers and why knowing what’s worked in the past will have everything to do with your own success…
- Why I absolutely love CD-of-the-month programs and choose this format (even over membership sites) for about half of my own continuity offers…
- The single best continuity offer of all (and no, it’s NOT a membership site). This offer won’t work for all markets and all people, but when it does work LOOK OUT!
- Two (2) membership site models I suggest you avoid (accept under very rare circumstances) , and much, much more…
Part 3: Choosing Your Front-End Strategy
- Five (5) proven front-end offers and how to know which one is right for you…
- The absolute best front-end offer for anyone who already has a physical book or digital ebook…
- What is a “MOAB” and how you can use it to quickly fill a continuity program. (One well-known marketer used this exact same strategy recently and it worked like a charm.)
- How I use SLO’s and other low-ticket offers to funnel traffic into membership sites and other continuity programs on a daily basis…
- Why short, crappy salesletters often work best when direct-selling continuity. (I know it sounds weird, but I’ll tell you why that is…)
Once you’ve completed the “Getting Started” steps, it’s now time to start “architecting” your continuity offer which is what Module 1 is all about…
Module 1:
Architecting Your Continuity Program
If you’re like me and you love planning, then you’re gonna love this module…
That’s because the next step in the Continuity Blueprint system is to outline exactly how your continuity program/membership site will be laid out.
A lot of important decision will be made at this stage including:
Part 1: Choosing Your Membership Site-Type
- The 3 types of membership sites: 1) Free-To-Premium, 2) Members Only and 3) Hybrid Premium and which one YOU should choose for your business…
- Why giving away a lot of free content can lead to the DEATH of your membership site…
- How I incorporate membership sites as the home page of my business and how I use this setup to generate passive subscription signups…
- And more…
Part 2: Determining Your Content Strategy
- 9 common content elements you can pick and choose to incorporate into your own membership site…
- Why I DESPISE multi-topic newsletters and will choose to deliver a single-topic report every day of the week. (Trust me, the reason has nothing to do with ease of delivery and EVERYTHING to do with getting new members.)
- My #1 rule when deciding what I’m going to deliver to my members each and every month. (HINT: Less is definitely more in this case…)
- Why you should never…NEVER…launch a membership site with a forum already in place. I know people who have shirked this rule and they regret it every time…
Part 3: Proven Continuity Pricing Models
- Why I avoid quarterly and yearly continuity models and choose to go with monthly every time…
- The three (3) proven pricing strategies and the 4 price-points I choose for my continuity programs 98% of the time…
- The difference between “breakage” and “consumption” model pricing, and how it effects everything from content delivery to email communication. (If you’re like most of my students, you’ll be shocked when you see this one…)
- Why I rarely cross the $97 a month boundary with continuity programs, and why I suggest you stay below it as well (almost no matter what market you go into)…
Part 4: Membership Site Core Components
- The “nuts and bolts” of which membership platform, content management solution and billing platform is right for your membership site…
- Why I don’t recommend all-in-one, turnkey solutions in most cases and for most membership publishers…
- Free and ultra-low-cost membership solutions you can use to get up and running for less than $150…
- The FREE, open-source content management solution I use to run virtually all my membership sites. (I promise you’ve heard if it, but I bet you don’t know anyone else who’s using this application like I do…)
- How I use “Pseudo Login Forms” (that don’t require any technical skills whatsoever) to run 5-figure a month membership site. (You’ll absolutely crack up laughing when you see how simple this is…)
- Why I DON’T recommend PayPal and ClickBank to process your recurring payments, and the billing solutions I actually DO recommend…
Whew…
As you can see there are a lot of decisions that need to be made before you can start building your membership site/continuity program, but I promise that by following my advice you’ll save THOUSANDS of dollars and HOURS UPON HOURS of time in mistakes not made.
Trust me, these are the kinds of things you want to get right the first time around.
But once all the initial plans have been drawn up, it’s now time to start gathering supplies. And more times than not, those “supplies” will come in the form of CONTENT (which is exactly what the next module is all about…
Module 2:
Getting Content for Your Continuity Program
Without a doubt, the biggest stumbling block for new continuity publishers is CONTENT. Well in this module, it’s my intent to remove that block forever.
I’m going to show you a number of strategies I’ve used to generate content quickly and easily, even in markets where I’m not an expert.
We’re also going to explore the “Publisher Model” in much greater depth, and get into the specifics of partnerships, joint ventures and content licensing and buyouts and more…
Part 1: Principles of Rapid-Fire Content Creation
- Four (4) strategies for quick content creation…including my proven method for becoming an expert in almost any subject 72 hours or less.
- Why (even if you are the expert) you still shouldn’t be creating all the content for your membership site yourself…
- The importance of “leveraged content” and why it’s the only kind of content you should spend your time developing…
- And much more…
Part 2: How To Become a Continuity Publisher
- The “Publisher Model Matrix” and when to know if you should: 1) partner with an expert, 2) license content, 3) hire a ghostwriter or 4) interview other experts…
- The advantages and disadvantages of partnering with KNOWN vs. UNKNOWN experts. (I’ve done both, and while they both work you have to know what you’re getting into before you begin…)
- Three (3) sources of experts, and the one I turn to 90% of the time…
- Why this type of author is absolutely DESPERATE to work with a membership publisher (like you) and where you can go to find them…
- The four (4) types of deal structures that I use when partnering/JVing with experts, and the one I prefer over all the other three.UPDATE: I’m currently working with an attorney to develop turnkey contracts and agreements that you can modify and use in your own publisher arrangements…
- The single most important rule of all when working with and/or partnering with experts. (Ignore this and you WILL come to regret it. I guarantee it…)
- Why licensing is the fastest method of all to acquire quality content…
- How to use ClickBank to find “ugly duckling products” you can buy for practically nothing.
- The word-for-word script I use when contacting content owners about buying/licensing their information. (You’ll want to copy and paste this, because every single word is thought out and tested…)
- How to seek out and find quality ghostwriters without posting your job on freelance sites for all the world to see…
- How to “test-drive” multiple writers at once for pennies on the dollar so you know you have a quality person before you bring them in to your business…
- The cheapest and easiest way to get content TOMORROW … interviewing experts. (This concept is so simple yet few people do it the right way.)
- 55 sample questions I use when interviewing experts that work in practically any market…
- The sample contact script I use to entice experts and get them to say “Yes” to my interview requests…
Honestly, I talk so much about the “Publisher Model” and how to execute it that I could go on forever.
I think you get the idea, though, that there’s a lot here…
Part 3: How To Use “Compiled Content” To Build Your Site
- The importance of “filler content” and how you can use compiled content to add bulk to your site…
- How to use Private Label Resell Rights Content (PLR) the right way. (PLR is an incredibly valuable source of content, but you have to be careful with how you use it…especially in paid subscription sites.)
- Nine (9) sources of free, high-quality videos that you can embed directly into your site. (And no, none of them are YouTube.)
- How to become a “content aggregator”…and where to go to find “pre-aggregated content” that you can drop into your site immediately, and much, much more…
Honestly, I’m not exaggerating when I say that this module alone is worth the investment in this training.
Whether you choose to start a continuity program or not (and hopefully I’ve convinced you that you should), this material will help you IMMENSELY in any information business.
Alright, now that we have content out of the way it’s time to start construction on your membership site…
Module 3:
Getting Content for Your Continuity Program

The foundation has been laid, the blueprints have been drawn up and all the materials (i.e. content) have arrived at the job site.
Now it’s time to start building!
In this module, you’ll be hearing mostly from my “right-hand man of continuity and membership site technology”. I’m telling’ ya, this guy is a wizard when it comes to setting up membership sites and continuity programs, and he has graciously agreed to lend his talents and knowledge to this training.
Here’s an overview of what’s included in this module:
- 21+ nitty-gritty, step-by-step tutorials that walk you through the process of setting up a membership site just like mine. (Even if you’re not a technical person, if you can “paint by numbers” then you can do this.)
- How you can use free and non-technical solutions that get the job done if you want to absolutely NOTHING to do with technology…
- How I’m able to build beautiful sites in minutes…even though I’m not a designer. Just wait until you see all the incredible “themes” that are available (and easy to install).
- My favorite little known plugins and “hacks” that will make your membership site sing…
- BONUS: How to have a continuity “membership site”…without actually having a website!
- And whole lot more that frankly is too detailed to go into here…
Again, if you’re worried about technology, DON’T BE. My tech guy will walk you through everything step-by-step.
And remember, you’re more than welcome to give these tutorials to a member of your team or a hired programmer. The key is, technology shouldn’t be an issue, and it definitely won’t be the thing that holds you back once you have access to this module.
Ok, now that everything is in place we move to the most important module of all…
Module 4:
Getting and Keeping Members

Let’s face it, if you can’t fill your site with paying members (and then keep ‘em once you have ‘em), all your hard work up until this point was nothing but a waste of time.
My objective in this module is to expose to as many member-getting strategies as possible, because frankly not all strategies will work in all markets.
Some of these strategies include:
- A detailed explanation of my proven continuity traffic model…the very same model I use in all my membership sites
- Why “multiple entry points” (i.e. multiple sources of traffic) is vital to a growing continuity program…
- The difference between passive and active promotions (and which ones you should focus on the most)…
- How to ethically implement “forced continuity” in your business. (NOTE: We’re actually doing an “optional continuity” model and it’s not only reducing customer support, it’s also yielding a higher stick rate and greater net profits.)
- My top 3 FREE strategies for generating new members. (One of them is so incredibly simple…in fact, you’re probably doing it already you’re just not doing it the right way.)
- The one thing you ABSOLUTELY must do if you want to make affiliate marketing work with continuity programs…
- My proven affiliate contact script that I use to attract and activate new affiliates (even in markets when I’m totally unknown)…
- How you can capitalize off of the single most squandered piece of real estate on the entire Internet! (According to MarketingSherpa™, when executed properly this little piece of real estate yields conversions rates as high as 39%!!)
- Seven (7) tested “Stick Strategies” that can literally double the average subscription period of each member in your continuity program…
- Passive recruitment methods that generate a daily trickle of new subscribers. (NOTE: These members won’t come in droves, but they’ll stay forever and buy everything you’re selling once you get ‘em in!)
…and that’s just the tip of the ice-burg!
You’ll Also Get The Following
Bonus Modules…
Bonus Module 1:
My 2-Step Sandwich Page Strategy
I’m not gonna say that squeeze pages are dead, but let’s just say that the old way of using them is gonna go the way of the dodo bird very soon…especially with continuity programs.
Standard opt-in forms irritate your customers and “reverse squeeze pages” slow down the sales process and hurt conversions. But a “sandwich page” allows you to still deliver quality content while at the same time leaving the sales process uninterrupted.
It’s the perfect combination, and to my knowledge this technique isn’t being taught anywhere else…
Bonus Module 2:
Behind the Scenes of How I Create My Training Videos
Since releasing the “Million Dollar Napkin” video and the other videos in the Continuity Blueprint series, the question I keep hearing over and over again is, “How do you make those training videos?”
So, in this module I break down the entire process including:
- The software I use to record the videos…
- The writing tablet I use to do the hand-drawn segments (and how I set it all up and make it all work together)…
- The two types of microphones I use (and the only one that you really need…)
- The service I use to host my videos and how I get them to display properly on my sites, and much, much more…
I even give you a tour of my desk and recording room setup so you can see exactly what you need and what is total over-kill. (HINT: I have over $5000 in recording equipment but I do all my videos now on a $140 USB microphone and a cheap screencapture application…)
Bonus Module 3:
How To Position Your Membership Site For Sale
As with any business, the “big payday” usually comes when you SELL, and believe it or not continuity programs are VERY SELLABLE because they have:
1) Consistent monthly recurring income…
2) High profit margins…
3) Low operating costs…
4) Turnkey operations…
What more could a buyer want!
This is why I’ve personally sold two membership sites for over $1,000,000, and I can tell you there’s no better feeling than pocketing 7-figures just to walk away.
)
So, since “cashing out” should be a long-term goal of any business, I’ll be setting up a special interview with my friend and business broker where we’ll reveal the exact steps you need to take to position your continuity program for sale.
Even if the idea of selling of a business for 7 or even 8-figures sounds insane now, you’ll definitely want to listen in. Once you see how easy it is to crank out continuity businesses, you’ll want to follow the same pattern I have of: “Build then sell…build then sell…”
