SEO getting started

SEO getting started

Making Google happy through SEO will ensure your marketing success online. In another post here I discuss the importance of using a blog to promote or brand yourself. The trick to that is to have traffic to your blog. In combination with your blog you also need to have a way to capture your traffic’s information through a website or a capture page. To ensure your success online it is imperative that you can get traffic to all of your different sites including your blog, capture page and/or product website.

Driving traffic to your site can be a daunting task, but using Google you can get the traffic that you want through two different strategies. One is Pay Per Click search or the paid advertising that is on the right side of the Google search page results, and the other is the organic search results which are on the left side of the page.

It is on the left side where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes into play. So that you do not have to pay for page placement, you have to let Google know that your site is relevant. This relevancy will put you on the first page for your key words if … the sun is shining, all of the planets are exactly aligned and you are projecting pure thoughts. All kidding aside sometimes it feels like we have about that much control. You may even feel powerless, but you are not, you just need to learn what makes Google find you and “see” you as valuable and relevant.

There are some key factors to insuring that your site will be relevant in Googles eyes. This list contains what you are in control of, but one caveat is that it only accounts for 25% but it is a very important 25%.

What is Google scanning on your site?

1. The Page Title – It should focus on your keywords
2. Your URL – It should also focus on your keywords
3. Headings – You should have several
4. Text – To look for content and how the text is formatted, such as the emphasis put on bold type words etc.
5. Description – It should be relevant to the page

The majority of what Google is looking for is what other sites think of your site. This is a big key to figure out. In the beginning when Google looks at your page it assigns a score as to how relevant/important your site appears to be. Scoring starts at 0 and moves up to 10. Something that is interesting about this scales is that it is exponential, that is to say, that it is more difficult to go from 6 up to 7 than it is to go from 3 up to 4. So, the more you move up the harder it gets to keep moving up. Popularity is a key to moving up the ladder. The more people that like and link to your site the more Google likes you. If others are linking to your site then they see it as a recommendation. So, how do you get those links? You need to promote your site!

One place to start is website or blog directories. Look around until you find ones that looks like they are in good shape and maintained. You also can work with other companies that you have a relationship with to get some back links.

In order to get back links you have to be attractive in term of your content and active on your site. So now we are back to the basics, you want to have content on your site that is interesting and/or helpful, this will cause people to link back to your site. To show that you are active you need to write new posts, visit the web 2.0 social sites of online networking and visit forums. Another way to get people back to your sites it trough a press release.

Finally some key ideas to remember are that a keyword phrase should have it’s own blog post. It is not a good idea to send all of your keyword traffic to one post. Your posts should be specific to the keyword. You do not want your blog to look like a single page site, so the number of pages on a blog is more important than the length of the post If you want to use flash on your website, some is OK. But, know that Google does not see it as anything special, infact Google can not even read it, so do not use it as a way to rank. Lastly, it is your URL that is important not where you host your site. There is a lot to learn and it is best to find a good resource and study it well, see below for a good place to start. Now go make Google happy!!!

How to Write Successful SEO Friendly Content

Writing SEO friendly content can seem like a daunting task at first, but do not be alarmed. There are a handful of ways to make writing SEO friendly content easy and successful, and plenty of other online sources to turn to for help.

The first thing to remember is that you are writing content. You are not stringing a bunch of letters together solely to make a search engine happy, though it does help. While the purpose is to increase your search engine ranking, you are still trying to provide good content for readers across the web. Without good content, you will not get continued support. Without continued support, whatever possible profitable benefit you might have been accruing for your work would lose its backbone and your content will be pointless.

Secondly, in order to make the search engine happy, you do have to use a few keywords, and you will need to repeat them a handful of times. Make sure you are not overloading your article with keywords, but repeat them 2-5 times throughout an article. You can do this naturally by including them in the title, as well as the subtitle or first sentence of the article. In addition, if you take advantage of lists, you will find it is easier to incorporate your key words when writing in list format rather than paragraphs. Your choice in keywords is important. Consult with an Los Angeles SEO and internet marketing specialist if you need help.

As far as lists go, they can be a very comprehensive way for the reader to get the information they are looking for from your site or article. After organizing your information into lists, it is also a good idea to use boldface texts. This will direct the reader’s attention to the important parts of your article.

Before posting your article, make sure you proofread it for errors.
If people want to attack your article with their grammar teacher’s red pen, that is not a good sign. And finally, unless you want your article to become dustier than an Encyclopedia, update your content often. Make sure it is a living, breathing document, and cite other sources to prove it.

It’s really not as hard as you might think, so get writing!

To design a professional and a socially viable site is a very daunting task. The difference between an excellent and an average task of website designing company is the magnanimity of approach to the concept of business. A good web design places the website in a whole different realm. Though it is very important for a successful business to take the services of the best website designing company, however quite a few people do not understand the importance of it and want to fabricate a website on their own using the website builder tools available on the net. These website builders come with premade templates that can be customized with few easy to follow directions. After downloading the images from the library and putting in the required content you are good to go.

However, if you follow a few basic guidelines, then finding the best website design firms becomes much easier. The steps below can help you determine what to look for when you are in need of a reputable design firm to create your website.

1. Have an Idea of What You Want

Unless you are willing to through your entire businesses image into the hands of a relative stranger, it is important to first gather general ideas of what you are looking for before finding the best website design firms. Even though you’ve hired a designer, you still want your website to consist of your ideas, because who knows your company better than yourself Develop a short and specific list of items and features that you would like for your website to have, so that when you find the right designer you are ready to go.

2. Review Their Reputation

One of the most important things to do when you go about finding the best website design firms is to review the reputation that a company has with its past and current customers. You can do this by asking friends, family members, or associates who have used the company’s services, or by checking with the BBB or online for reviews. You can really begin to narrow your choices down based on the individual reputation of each company.

3. View Their Sample Websites or Portfolio

To get a general idea to the quality of work that a company can provide and to see their personal style, view samples of websites they have designed in the past or their portfolio. By doing this, you can see if their style is compatible with what you are looking for, and whether they have the talent and skill needed to design the site you have in mind.

4. Compare Their Services and Prices

When you are finding the best website design firms, it is best to compare the services and prices of several different companies. Each company has a variety of services that they specialize in, and a different scale of prices for these services. By comparing design firms you can find a company that offers the services you are looking for, and get the best available price as well.

5. Check Their Level of Customer Service

It is essential to test the customer service of a design firm before deciding to use their services. A firm can produce good quality work at a fair price, but if they have horrible customer service and you can never get a hold of them, you may want to look elsewhere for your design needs. Try sending a few questions through email and see how long it takes them to get back to you, as well as how courteous they are.

A website is like a show window of the company. Only if it is able to attract people from the outside can it help to draw customers to the site. At the time of planning the designers should be clear about the company objective and the liking of the target audience. At the stage of designing they should keep in mind that the design has been tastefully articulated.

We are told repeatedly by the guru’s that to make money on the internet you need to have your own product and the easiest product to create and sell on the internet is an ebook.

Although this may seem like a daunting task, in reality it is really not that difficult to do provided you follow a few rules. In this article we will discuss some of the basic rules you need to follow to write a successful ebook that people will enjoy reading.

1. Firstly when setting out to write a book, set aside blocks of time when you can work on it without distractions, so that you can give full attention to the task.

The best time for this is usually early in the morning or at night, just don’t spend longer than two hours per block when working on it as you will become exhausted and not be productive and it will affect the quality of your work.

2. Write about a subject that interests you or that you have some knowledge about as this will make your task less boring as you do your research, for content.

If you are unsure what to write about think about things you enjoy doing. Do you have a hobby or a skill or expertise in some form of work? If you are able to give useful information in any field people will appreciate it and enjoy what you have to say.

A big thing in internet marketing these days is niche marketing, so find a subject that is interesting to you and is generally popular and base your book on that.

3. Create an outline for your ebook and consider the length of it. By doing this before you begin to write, your writing will be more organized and will flow better. It will also help you to create the content so that everything follows in a logical pattern.

4. Focus your ebook on a particular theme and stick to it throughout, this way the chances of your book being read from start to finish are far more likely. It is not necessary to write a long book. Just make sure that the content is helpful.

If you are finding it difficult to write a book on your own, then consider outsourcing some of the work involved. There are many writers available who can help you with the writing at very reasonable prices. Alternatively you could write yourself but outsource the proofreading or the graphic designs for your book.

By following these simple rules, you can easily write ebooks that people will enjoy reading and get benefit from. In fact you are not limited to only writing one ebook, you can write as many as you would like and make a good income from them on the internet.
